Operation Red Wings was a joint military operation on June 28, 2005, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. A four-man SEAL reconnaissance team was compromised and ambushed by Taliban fighters. Three of four team members were killed. A QRF MH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down by an RPG, killing all 16 personnel aboard.
